Product Description
The light usually flashes when Halo’s power supply (output is less than 5V/1.3A) is insufficient. Please change to another USB port of devices or USB adapter in which the power supply with an output voltage of at least 5V and a current of 1.3A or above. We recommend using a power supply with an output voltage of 5V and a current of 1.5A or above to optimize the lamp’s light. If you are unsure about the output information of your USB devices, we recommend using a USB adapter on ScreenBar Halo directly. And before using a USB adapter, please have a look at your USB adapter specification for output information. You can find related output information shown on the USB adapter below: OUTPUT: 5V ⎓ 1.5A Please DO NOT use the USB extension cable for ScreenBar Halo. It will cause light flashes or abnormal operations as well.ScreenBar Plus is a revolutionary lighting system. Simply hang it on your monitor to light up your desk without taking up any valuable space. The Desktop Dial makes the use even easier. With automatic dimming and asymmetric optical design, ScreenBar Plus illuminates the working space with just USB power, avoiding reflective glare off your computer screen. Slick, clean, office working, editing, designing, home office.

I hesitated but glad I finally got this for my home office

- Reviewed in the United States on February 16, 2023As I've gotten older, I can't use my monitor in a dim or unlit room as I used to. Fresh out of college that was my preferred environment for writing software. However, in my retirement years I suffer from eye strain and fatigue under the conditions in which I used to thrive. Unfortunately, many of the desk lamps I have used cast too much glare on the monitor (both the glossy and the matte finish types).
I had heard about the BenQ bar light from former coworkers, but I hesitated because of the price and where to place my Logitech Brio webcam. I didn't want to place either the light or the camera off center. Luckily, it turns out that the webcam sits securely right on top of the BenQ mounting bracket (see attached photo). It's secure enough that I have not had to add an adhesive strip under normal conditions (which includes raising/lowering my sit/stand desk as well as adjusting the monitor arm height/swivel). If I jostle my monitor hard enough, it will dislodge the webcam but it would be an unusual thing to happen in my home office (and some double-backed foam tape would easily address it).
The light is reasonably bright for seeing my work area and remains glare-free even at the highest setting. The LED strip is deeply recessed so at most reasonable positions you will not be looking directly at the LEDs. The LEDs consist of an array of alternating cool and warm color temperature units and the dial control smoothly adjusts the overall temperature of the overall light. As another reviewer mentioned, it might be nice to be able to dim the light a bit further, but given my weakening eyesight it's doubtful I'd actually use a lower setting.
The auto setting picks a the brightness level for you, but three issues to be aware of. First, the auto setting will override your color temperature setting. You can set the color again after auto setting picks the brightness. Second, the auto setting sets the brightness only once each time you press the auto button. Auto mode does not continuously sample the ambient light and adjust the brightness accordingly. If lighting conditions change, you may have to press the button again. Third and finally, if you turn the lamp off while the Auto setting is active, the lamp will remember that and initiate Auto mode again when you switch it back on. That has the side effect of causing the lamp to dim and brighten as the lamp samples the ambient light and adjusts it's output. The first time I did that I thought the lamp was defective! Personally, I find it annoying to have the lamp go through that cycle each time I turn it on, so I avoid the Auto setting.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 28, 2020What I like about the ScreenBarPlus:
1. Space-saving top clamp design compared to other traditional tabletop lights.
2. Easy installation. It fits almost all morgen monitor types. Rest it on the top of your monitor, plug in the usb cable and you are ready to go.
3. Ease of use. A true plug and play device. The control dial is dummy-proof.
4. Design. It's a great product with both aesthetics and function. The projection angle prevents light from emitting directly onto the screen and eyes. I have a bad habit of arc my back and lean forward towards the screen. You can setup the monitor/light at the right height so that the light covers a specific zone, if my posture is out of the place, the light can shine directly towards my eyes... the hidden benefit is the light becomes a posture remidnder!
ScreenBar vs ScreenBarPlus
It's all about the user experience really.
If you just want to spend $100 for an awesome looking, space-saving light, don't really care about all the other functions or share the work space -> go get your regular ScreenBar, plug in and forget about it. Note: the automatic adjustment on the standard version only works when booting up or by pressing the auto touchbutton. After numerous attempts by shooting different light source at the auto sensor, it never "automatically" adjust the color or the brightness to neither the temperature nor the brightness extreme ends. And trust me, you won't want to change the temperature or brightness regularly. It just takes too much guess ok the 15 stage color temperature or brightness.
However, if you share your workstation like my wife and I, we want more, constant adjustability. I like cooler color and she prefers warmer. Why not.
We like the auto function but find us constantly changing the color temperature and brightness. The auto function just doesn’t cut it for usz this having the physical dial included in the ScreenBar Plus version is a MUST and makes it soooo much more convenient than the inductive buttons on the standard version. Plus, with only $20 bucks more, we think it’s a lot more you can get out of this package than just another beautiful and expensive light... did I just say it's cheaper to pay more? I am slowly loosing my mind over this COVID-19 WFH.
It was a struggle for us to pick which one to go with and the above is our verdic. Hope it will help you make up your decisions too! Be safe

5.0 out of 5 stars Great light. Get this model with the wired remote control
Get this model with the wired remote control. From other reviews, the more expensive model with the wireless controller has too many issues. The wired model works perfectly, with no issues. I was going to get the cheaper model without the wired controller, but trust me, having the ability to easily change brightness, and turn the light on and off without having to fumble around with the light bar is worth it. Other than that, it works well, gets bright, the remote is heavy and has a quality look and feel. Not much else to say. You pay for what you get here.
Just to clear up some errors I've seen in other reviews:
-Yes, you can turn the light on and off with the controller-make sure to take out the protective cardboard from the controller knob.
-Yes, you can power the light on and off independently from your computer power. Get a separate USB power supply (cheap) and you don't need your computer power.
-There are numerous brightness and colour temperature settings, not just a few
-You can place your webcam on top of the light mount (or at least the logitech 920/922)
-Yes, you can use a USB extension cable to plug into a power source beyond the length of the supplied cable. I'm using the Amazon Basics 2.0 6.5 ft cable and it works well. That is a high-quality cable - some are thin and maybe can't properly handle the 5w.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect experience
This is my first monitor light bar. I can't believe how my eyes are way less strained after using this thing for just few hours. The wired controller is well built, super clicky, and super easy to control.
I'm using it with Dell U2723QE and ZERO glare on the screen. My eyes are happy indeed :)
