I got this desk light when my old one died after a number of years. It has a heavy, substantial base that keeps the light upright and a gooseneck so I can adjust the angle of the light. I got it to use next to my sewing machine, and it provides three levels of light so I can adjust it to whatever I need. The only quibble I have is that this light, like the others I looked at, has a rechargeable battery instead of a straight AC operation. I don't plan to move the light around, so keeping it plugged into the wall isn't an issue for me. But keeping it on "charge" indefinitely isn't a good idea. There's no light to indicate how much power is left, so there's a risk of the light conking out while I'm in the middle of a project. But other than that, this appears to be a well-made light that should last me for a few years at least.

It requires a tap of precisely the correct length in precisely the correct spot. If it is a tiny fraction of a second too fast or slow, it won't turn on. At the same time, the precise stop isn't in the indent where you're supposed to tap. I was able to eventually get it working last night but it won't turn on today after over a hundred attempts. It does make a solid thump sound when trying to turn it on, though, so there's that.

The lamp would have been easy to assemble if I had realized the plastic rings had to be removed 1st. Fortunately a friend figured that out. The instructions did not explain it.
The bulb takes a couple of seconds to come on after switching it on, but I can live with that.
The lamp itself is fine and I love the adjustability, which is why I purchased it (for reading in bed). What I hate, though, is the very thin cord and the device with the switch (why not on the lamp itself??) which is so lightweight and flimsy that it won’t stay put but falls over.

bought this to use for a smart plug. It does not work with smart plugs as it does not turn on when you plug it in since it has a touch control. The color of the led is a pure white, no blue.
