Easy set-up, tons of information, and connects to Weather Underground for reporting!
I have wanted a PWS (personal weather station) for a very long time. I had researched many over the years and when Acurite came out with the Atlas model I decided to go for it. I like that it has all of the sensors, including the add on (yes extra cost but for Florida, its worth it) lightning detector. It also was highly recommended by Weather Underground, who I use for my local weather. If you're a tech buff you will like that you can hook up your PWS to the internet and it will add your station to the array of stations available to people all over the world. Mine is now reporting weather and conditions to WU and it is added to the overall records for the area. It was super easy to set up, all it required for my installation was an 8-foot heavy-duty galvanized pole to Mount it on, which I got a local home supply store. They recommend that the station be at least 6 feet off the ground to avoid temp interference with the ground. Mine is mounted 7 feet and over grass. When installing it, MAKE SURE TO READ THE DIRECTIONS! Installing the batteries, and removing all of the shipping tape and foam is important. I couldn't figure out why mine was not reporting rainfall until I went back and looked at the installation instructions. I had missed a piece of foam that was blocking the rain gauge from working. Once removed worked great! My error. Batteries are supposed to last a very long time (over a year close to two). he touchscreen display can be shelf-mounted or wall-mounted but does require a plug for power. Setup was super easy and connecting it to my wireless network was a snap. Once on, I signed up with Weather Underground and I was immediately reporting my data to the world! You don't have to do this if you don't want, but I thought it was nice my family could look up the weather right at my house anytime they wanted. If you are looking for an easy to set up, yet really reliable in depth PWS for your use, this is a great one and I have zero complaints so far. I did buy the extended warranty to be on the safe side. The photos show my installation, inside display (which I love mounted next to my rear French doors), and screenshots from my phone. The Pros are many, here is a list from their website: Manual set time/date Hour/minute and month/day display High definition touchscreen color display Indoor/outdoor temperature (ºF or ºC) with trend indicator Indoor/outdoor humidity (%RH) with trend indicator Wind speed (N,S,E,W or degrees) Wind direction (Mph, Knots or Km/h) Rainfall (Inches or mm) Self-emptying (tipping bucket) rain gauge Barometric pressure (inHg or hPa) with trend indicator UV index and light intensity Future forecast icon Weather records: highs/lows and accumulation by month Snapshot of the current day or previous day weather conditions 6 or 48-hour charts: outdoor temperature, humidity, barometric pressure, UV, light intensity, wind speed and rainfall SD card slot for saving detailed historical weather data: display stores 48 hours of readings in its local memory, use an SD card (not included) to automatically log historical data beyond 48 hours Touchscreen dashboards for detail weather data and conditions Programmable alarms: time, temperature, humidity, wind speed, rain & forecasted storms Illuminated high definition color display; backlight remains on (off option) Display unit powered by AC adapter (In the event of a power outage the display retains records on the on-board memory, only time and date must be reset) Auto-dim and sleep modes Tabletop or wall-mountable design Easy to use and installs in minutes Sensor-based forecasting data 5 features built into one weather sensor: temperature, humidity, wind speed, wind direction & rainfall Three solar panels for fan aspiration, increasing accuracy of outdoor temperature and humidity Durable, weather-resistant construction Wireless technology transmits data through walls & long distances Strong signal penetration (enhanced 433 MHz) The outdoor weather sensor can be mounted to any horizontal or vertical flat surface with the included mounting bracket. Alternatively, the weather sensor can be mounted on a pole with a diameter of up to 1 1/2" Limited one (1) year warranty

Okay, like many others here I've been waiting for this Atlas model to come out in order to replace my older Acurite 5-1 station. From the start I noticed many of the negative reviews due to the Lightning Sensor and other issues and wasn't sure whether to buy this or not. After going back and forth on different makes and models I decided to order this Atlas with the intention of returning it within Amazon's 30 day return policy if I had problems.

I ordered the Atlas on Sunday and sure enough the box arrived in 3 days so great service from Amazon. The installation went easier then I had thought and sure enough I had the unit up and running in less then an hour. For my situation, the signal from the outdoor sensor is strong enough that I don't even need the display antenna extended. Improves the look a little without it.

So far I've had it up and running for 24 hours and everything appears to be working fine, no issues with either the sensor unit itself or the display, and no false lightning strikes either, at least not yet! All readings seem to be accurate although we haven't had rain yet so we'll see how that plays out. The display itself appears to be much more professional and high tec then my old one. Certainly a nice upgrade.

The only issue I've had so far is connecting my unit online to both the MyAcurite and Weather Underground sites. In the end I ended up unplugging the Access unit and taking the batteries out. After replacing the batteries and restarting the Access unit everything worked fine and I was online in no time.

As a suggestion for people that need technical support, if you don't get your questions answered to your satisfaction by Acurite, try using the Acurite forum on the WXforum.net site or the Acurite Weather Stations Users group on FaceBook. The members on these sites are a great help and can answer almost anything.

Keeping my fingers crossed that this new Atlas unit continues to be trouble free and I'll update this review if and when it ever happens.

The market standard Weather Stations have been quite expensive for many years. I found recently good reviews for the AcuRite Atlas 01007M Weather Station. The older units had some issues. They seemed to have been resolved.
It is nearly half the cost of the old standard model from a competitor. I trust Amazon, so I ordered it. The delivery was exactly on the anticipated date. The manuals are in reasonably large print with mostly color pictures. The parts went together quickly, and without any tools!
The display is excellent and can be adjusted for contrast and brightness. The wireless access device connected to the internet fairly quickly trough our internet modem router. Updates installed on their own. I bought a Winegard DS-3000 J Pipe, a mast and Channel Master CM 9017 U-Bolts to place the station higher in the air for greater accuracy. Also bought AcuRite remote battery pack that is specific to Atlas to make it a snap to change batteries at ground level. Use the AA Ultimate Lithium batteries. Lasts longer, and works better in freezing temps. Solar panels run small fans to keep the thermometer at outdoor temperature. This station will connect to Weather Underground. The instructions are at the AcuRite Support site. You can also share your weather through AcuRite to friends and family. Again, the instructions are available. I am so happy with the quality, accuracy, and simplicity in setup. I may buy another one for another location.

3.0 out of 5 stars I item was great, BUT!
Reviewed in Australia on June 7, 2019
The item was great, but it was made only for the USA. I live in Australia. And no way to buy the add on's to the Altas weather station, for USA or Australia. This is a poor let down that I have had from Amazon.

The original purchase and set-up went to plan. I was able to sync. to their website and view readings on-line.
After a day or two the lightning detector had dictated hundreds of strikes when there had been none. The UV reading was also around 5 points low.
After researching I found that both faults were common.
I contacted Acurite and they agreed that my unit was faulty and sent me a new sender unit.
I installed and set up the new sender but the problems persisted, although lightning strikes were in tens rather than hundreds.
I did have the option of sending it back for a refund but I am just over it after 3 months of trouble.
The other readings, temp. wind etc. all work fine.

4.0 out of 5 stars Buen sistema con algunas fallas relevantes

2.0 out of 5 stars No recomiendo la versión Remates de Amazon

La versión Remates de Amazon no incluye la pantalla HD, lo regresé en dos ocasiones y me enviaron la mísma versión para uso en celular y acceso remoto. No hay buen soporte para países fuera de USA, UK y Australia.
