I got my color pencils today and the first impression that I got from them when I open then was that the colors were very vibrant I like the way that they are sharpened. They have a triangular shape and he feels comfortable when I hold them in my hand however when I lay them on my bed to count them because I felt as they were not 48 pencils. They were all there none missing, anyways when I started counting them there were two or three pencils the had weird looking piece of something dry stuck to them I'm not sure what it is I cannot even describe it but I got the impression as if whoever put them on the little tube didn't have their hands clean or maybe these were used not sure. However when it comes to the quality I was pleasantly surprised to discover that they are so creamy and rich and you don't have to press down hard to come up with a nice layer of color they blend very well. The black is very pigmented the white is not as pigmented as prismacolor but hey these pencils are worth the money, I would definitely recommend this pencils to anyone that is starting to draw and color or Someone that loves to color using coloring books. I draw and color as my hobby and I'm planning on doing a YouTube channel and I will definitely be buying Arteza in the future. Please don't send me dirty pencils 👍❤️.

They are the only colored pencils I ever purchased that I have nothing bad to say about! They are the only colored pencils I use and I am very reluctant to try anything else because I would hate to be disappointed if they weren't up to par.

Pencils are lightweight and colors are nice. I was hoping it to be a bit more pigmented. I am using this to practice blending and do have to go back and forth quite a bit to get some bold and intense colors. The pencils are soft and have not broken on me - which I do appreciate.

I am new to adult coloring. I am not an artist, just color for stress relief. I originally bought the budget pencils from Shuttle art. The set had 174 colors. I used those for awhile. Then I started running out of frequently used colors. (Sky blue, ocean blue, red) Shuttle art doesn have open stock. None of the common budget brands have open stock. I looked up Prismacolors and they were way out of my budget! This brand is for "serious artists." I looked up Arteza and they had open stock. In all the colors I needed. I bought a few pencils, (which have 3 in a pack!!) And fell in love with them. They were soooo much better than shuttle art! They blended a lot better and sharpened better . The colors are much more vibrant than other budget brands. Also Arteza didn't leave "pencil shavings" and the points didn't break as easily as Shuttle art. In my opinion, Arteza is perfect for adult coloring. Both the watercolors and regular pencils are amazing. I bought the 48 set for both. I will buy the 120 sets when these run out.

Bought as a birthday present for a four year old in January.
Since then have been used continuously for colouring and have lasted well
Pencils are easy to grip and each one is labelled as to its colour. Also they are easy to sharpen and don't break that easily. A being used by a child you can press quite hard when colouring in with no ill effect.
They are more expensive than other makes but the additional expense is worth it.
The cardboard tube they come in is also handy for keeping the pencils together.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful budget pencils for the serious colourist!
Reviewed in Australia on October 21, 2024

I use pencils mainly for designing quilts, sketching and doodling, even proper colouring - the latter I have been enjoying more of recently - it’s so mentally relaxing!

My pencils desperately need updating: I
have about a quarter of the pencils left of a 20 year old full set of much loved and used Derwent Studio, a full set of Marco Raffine with most well used, a handful of PolyChromo and also Lyra Rembrandt. I also have lots of Crayola left over from the kids primary school days!

The Derwent are wonderful but can be a bit hard for shading. The colours are fantastic. The Raffines are fine, although I have found the colour texture isn’t consistent. Also, the wood can crack and the lead can break easily when sharpening - but I have had them for ten years or more and they have been dropped on tiled floors more than once so that’s probably not a fair criticism! The Polys are so rich - but wow they are soft and I go through them so quickly! The Lyra Rembrandt are dry and more chalky than any of them - a feature I love for colouring large areas like skies, but I also go through them quickly. Crayola is Crayola, as far as kids pencils go they are great but I only use them if I don’t have a colour I need in another brand because they can be hard and scratchy.

Well, times have changed since I bought a full set of premium pencils - adult colourists are now paying hundreds for artist grade pencils! For what I use pencils for I do not need a full set of Primsa or Polys, but I enjoy nice pencils and can feel the difference.

There’s a dizzying array of pencils on Amazon, so I resorted to YouTube reviews to narrow down some good but not top-of-the-range choices, and hopefully try out a few different brands.

Arteza come highly rated for a budget pencil. They make several “levels” of pencils - these are the “classic,” there’s also the more expensive versions as shown on the packaging.

      Well, these are just lovely!

They are buttery, rich, smooth, and seem to layer and blend easily with my other brands. (I like my pencils in order of colour instead of brand because every brand has its uses!)

They smudge more than my Derwents and hold a point better than the Poly.

They are so good I have to wonder if the “premium” and “pro-series” ones are much better or are just more expensive because they are more resistant to fading in a museum setting…?

Anyway, I still have a couple of more brands I would love to try as they come on sale, but in the meantime I am more than happy with these and completely and thoroughly recommend them for any adult colourist - if you’ve got any young artistically inclined family members these would be a wonderful gift for them!

I will have to swatch all my pencils and think about what colours I need and what brands will work best in my collection - oh happy days!

      Happy Colouring!
