Outstanding function, annoying knob.
3 out of 5 stars
Outstanding function, annoying knob.
Selection knob feels like selecting a wash cycle on a whirlpool. I’m all for abstract user interface, but the knob only registers about one -in-four turns. Selecting time, temperature, weights, presets, timers all require the turning of the wheel of fortune which determines your selection. Seems to be getting worse one month in, but we will see. I can live with it if so, because this thing is pumping out whole meals daily, and heavy use of sensor cooking, defrosting, roasting, air frying etc prove this machine’s function as nearly perfect. Attached is a photo of last night’s dinner completely created with this combo unit- In about an hour’s time. Frozen 3-4lbs of fish defrosted and roasted without as much as 2 dirty dishes to clean and a spotless inside of the microwave. Fish was fall apart flaky and tender, careful not to dry out or overcook. Cod and salmon made so far. Air fry function is good too. I will add, there is always the recommended amount of space on our countertop for this unit on all sides. It is not being used outside of its advertised limits, but I feel as though the heat may be getting to the control panel and specifically the turn knob. After all, this is a microwave with the ability to reach 425 degrees for extended periods of time.

We bought this because my over the range 10 yr old microwave died. We didn't want another one. My wife kept burning herself because it was too high. So we ditched the Over The Range (OTR) microwave and bought this GALANZ appliance. I knw how to use the microwave oven, the instructions were easy. The fryer was new to me . So I tried a piece of bread in the fryer unit and low and behold it toasted the piece of bread, then I toasted a bagel . It worked too! Then I put a potato in the microwave cook it, pealed it slice it about 1/4 in thick salted it sprayed it with oil and set it in the fryer. Wow, it came out delicious , crispy and soft on the inside. The microwave isn't as strong as my OTR one but I improvised, adapted and over came it. I put a 1 qt frozen container of homemade chicken noodle soup that I had made and froze last week I defrosted it and cooked it in the microwave. I just took a little longer than my other microwave. baking was a little different....My first baking was brownies in a 9x9 inch baking pan. It took forever to cook and still the center didn't get done. SO... Since I was using the convection oven I knew it needed to be high enough off the bottom for the heat to circulate around the pan. SO... I made 2 lb meatloaf and used the 9x9 inch pan again. This time I took out the microwave plate, turned off the microwave turntable to lock, put something under the pan at each corner about 2 inches off the bottom of the unit ..low an behold it cook y beautiful heavy delicious meatloaf perfectly in about an hour and 15 min. I also cooked a 12 inch frozen thin crust. pizza in it on bake at 425Degreese for 12 min. It was perfect!, All it takes is you adapt to this appliance and it will do what ever you want. For my small kitchen it's a little big, but I still have room to work on my counters. One time I has a warning that it was overheating. Duh, It was too close to the wall. I unplugged it plugged it back in and moved it 2 more inches out from the wall. No problems after that. You really need to pay attention to the regulations of where to set this appliance up. It's important to make it work right. We have only had it for 10 days, but I keep trying new thing to cook . I haven't used my big oven , toaster oven and of course microwave of witch I don't have any more, since then.,, The only flaw is they need to send a metal , maybe 6x6 inch upside down basket to put your baking pan on so the convection oven will do its job. I went on Amazon and ordered a 4 pack of different size steel organizers and turned them upside down for the heights in the oven They really work great. I hope this review will help you in choosing your appliance. For me and mine it works perfect.

I recently replaced my regular microwave for this model. I am not disappointed. Takes a bit getting used to not having numbers to select, but you adjust quickly. I have owned many microwaves (high and low end)before, but this one has by far the best defrosting features. You can choose meat, poultry or fish and put in a weight. The food comes out very evenly defrosted, no hotspots.

The air fryer feature is also so very convenient. I've tried french fries, breaded shrimp ,chicken patties. All are done in less then 20 minutes. Crispy outside and lightly browned. In addition, you have the regular convection mode with or without Microwaves. The sensor reheat feature works excellently as well when heating up a plate of food. You also have the inevitable 'Popcorn' button, should you need it.

Overall I want to strongly recommend this model, as I had done a lot of research before I bought it.
I'm very happy with it. It is fairly quiet .One thing I don't care for (only in air-fry mode!) ....the endless beeping in intervals if you forget to hit the button when taking your food out. And the fact that you can barely see whats going on inside. The light needs to be a lot brighter. Cleaning can be tricky, as the heating elements at the top make that difficult. I recommend to always use a food cover to prevent splatter.

This unit does a li'l bit of everything. I got mine a number of months ago and wanted to put it through its paces before doing a review.

I AM pleased with my purchase overall. It is a great microwave. A li'l less powerful than the one it replaced, so it took some getting used to when so many things where ending up under heated <LOL>

I was a bit disappointed with the convection oven / air fryer aspect of it. It seems it does not properly cook things within the "published" times for air fryer recipes or frozen foods. Several of my frozen snacks such as pretzels take up to 50% longer than the directions call for, and take longer than the toaster oven I gave to my folks years ago. It does the job, but you have to play by ear for time tables.

As for ease of use... HOLY *&#@! It has a LOT of functions... push button, push dial, turn dial, push dial again push another button type in your social and your mothers maiden name in hexadecimal <LOL> Fortunately, the manual is EASY to follow.

In the video reviews I watched before buying mine, there where comments about starting a fire because they slid the manual and other paperwork in between the heating element and the top of the oven. This was not the case with mine, but there was some blue packing tape on the top of the oven (not touching the element, but it would of melted the first time I used it if I had not checked). Be careful when yours arrives, make sure the interior is cleaned out. It is not a bad idea to properly clean it before use anyway.

IF I had LOTS of space in my kitchen and excess money to spend on dedicated units... I would probably still get a dedicated air fryer (or at least see if I could get my hands on one to do side by side comparison.) As a microwave goes, I am happy with this unit. As mentioned above it does a great job, but despite similar power rating, it is not as powerful as my old one.
As a convection over, it is small, but does the job.
As a toaster over, it might actually be a bit too large. It takes longer than a dedicated toaster over to toast bread (or garlic bread with cheese)
It scores 5 stars for for versatility... but as the saying goes. "Jack of all Trades, Master of None". It will do the job, but it may not be the best at everything it does.

If you are shopping for an RV, Boat, 18 wheeler, etc., this is a GREAT product... I would strongly recommend, just make sure you have a big enough inverter as it has a stout current draw... For the home, it is a good product... I would still recommend.

The features with the knob are outdated and hard to figure out. I couldn't use this unit without the manual right beside it. And the door is so dark that you can't see what is happening inside. Also the time read out is so dim that it's hard to see.
We used the air fryer the first day as we were very excited about this feature. The wings turned out very good even though it took 40 minutes. The next day I tried to defrost a pound of hamburger and got an error message. Same with trying to warm up some coffee. We unplugged the unit to reset it but that didn't help. I called Galanz and they said it was an electrical problem. So much for the excitement.... this thing lasted less than 2 days. Amazon allowed us to return it. I would not recommend this product.
