- Reviewed in the United States on September 24, 2024Bought to replace nearly identical set. Very in-ear design to eliminate all outside noise. Excellent sound quality. Recommend.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 19, 2022Bought the ER2SE for an upgrade over my Final Audio E500 EQed to Harman. Found a lot on my sound preference after owning this IEM.
Driver capabilties (Transcients, Timbre) were great for the price. It EQs well enough but even after EQ it doesnt rumble to my preference.
Hate the mmcx, terrible connector especially since mine was positioned weird so when there was up or down input it would cut. This was deemed defective by Amazon, so it probably wont happen to you.
The dual flange ear tips fit me best. Best balance of noise isolation and quick to put on.
If you can get it in the US and not buying into EU it is great for the price, just not enough bass for my bass head preference even after EQ.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 5, 2023The sound is pretty flat with poor fidelity. I find myself cranking the volume for lack of bass and mumbly audio. I figured I would switch the low quality cable at some point but of course it has a proprietary connector. The cable is already turning to static on the right after two months of use.
On the positive side it fits and is comfortable to wear for long periods which is why I went with this over better choices.
I wouldn't recommend them unless the comfy form factor is your top priority.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 17, 2022What can I say. The fit is definitely unusual
But the results...
I am an ex pianist. And now I feel like I've been deprived of a high quality sound for too long.
These are easily one of the best iems on the market - if you can fit them right.
I cried when I listened to some of the pieces and songs - when I realized how much I've been missing.
I could not have expected such a crystal clear sound for under a 100.
These are not v-shapes, but very balanced flats. If you only care about bass, treble and no mids - these are not for you

First impression was “impressive.” But if my sample is typical of the build quality, it is a waste of money.
I’ve had the ER4, this earphone’s “big brother”, for a while. Their sound is amazing. I wanted a less expensive set to use for air travel, so I thought I’d try these.
First impression: sound quality is excellent. Very similar to the ER4s at a small fraction of the price. They easily beat any Bluetooth buds I’ve tried, and I’ve tried quite a few.
Noise isolation is superb, very bit as good as the ER4s. This makes for a delightful listening experience.
The deep insertion is certainly not everyone’s cup of tea, but I find them comfortable. (Like the ET4s, I use different size tips to get a proper fit in each ear.)
Those characteristics, combined with the compact travel size and the competitive price for the sound quality would have made them an ideal set to use on my frequent airplane flights for work.
If this were the end of the story, I’d be rating them 4.5 to 5 stars.
But…there is a (BIG) problem:
I started by burning them in: indoors, at a desk, completely stationary, with no stress on the system (earphones, cable, adapter).
After (perhaps) a dozen uses over a couple of weeks (certainly fewer than 24 hrs), THE CABLE TO THE LEFT EARPIECE NOW WORKS ONLY INTERMITTENTLY. To get it to work means positioning it “just so”. If it gets bumped, the sound goes away.
This is a basic function of the device. I’ve had free “headsets” distributed by the airlines last longer than this. Minus 3 stars.
A replacement cable is available, though. The price? Within a “value meal” of a whole new set. More star deductions.
If I could give 0 stars, I would. Don’t waste your money like I did.
Note: I originally rated this product higher. After reflection, I adjusted the rating to a more actuate reflection of the overall product.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 29, 2023Original they were purchased for classical listening but after my gaming headset died I gave these a try and they were pretty great
Soundstage isnt the best as with any other in ear but the noise isolation is great, perfect for cqb shooters as you can really hear the precise direction of footsteps and other movements.
Noise cancellation is great when inserted properly and most likely attributes to the great isolation.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 23, 2022UPDATE - I used these on 10 hours worth of flights and they worked absolutely fine. I think the prior issue had something to do with the input jack on the previous flight. I have had no additional issues with these since my initial review. I am sorry for doubting Etymotic Research's expertise!
Really disappointed with these. I used Etymotic Research headphones on my iPhone for over 5 years. This set was dead on arrival, losing signal with very slight movements during the first use. I won't go out of my way to buy this brand in the future.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 3, 2023Have used and loved Etymotic Research earbuds for 20 years.. but do not like the detachable buds, the connection is a little loose so sound cuts out....

Quick delivery, good sound, but missing the iPhone adapter as said in the item description.

3.0 out of 5 stars Small and artificial sounding
These earphones were a big disappointment. While they have very good resolution, they sound small and unnatural. Returned.

5.0 out of 5 stars DOES NOT INCLUDE THE EXTRA 12 TIPS
The 12 pc tips are nowhere to be found in my box, only the apple dongle. Only reason why I bought this listing over the standard product was because of the included extra tips.
Buyer beware.
