I live in a small town/rural area that is serviced by only one cable TV provider. Their prices kept going up and the number of channels I liked kept going down. I was reluctant to go to satellite TV so I did a little research and learned that it is still possible pick up TV with an antenna. This 1byone Super Thin Indoor HDTV antenna was easy to hook up - it plugs in to the same connection as regular cable TV would plug into - and I can put my TV anywhere in the room and not have to worry about how far away it is from the cable TV outlet.
Even in my small town/rural area this antenna captures NBC, CBS, FOX, a weather channel, a "MeTV" station, and a couple of PBS stations. Frankly I was surprised to get the PBS stations because of distance. I have had the antenna for about four weeks and so far there have only been two instances that I did not have good picture, and both of those times were during heavy snowstorms (for all I know cable TV might have been out as well). The antenna is on the TV stand, pointed in the general direction of a window that is about 25 feet away, and other than the two storm exceptions I have had excellent results.
I am very pleased with this antenna. I can't comment on durability because I have only owned it for four weeks but with a one-time price of $15 I feel like I'm ahead even if it breaks today. I do miss TBS and USA but not enough to pay $60+ per month for cable TV. I have a good internet connection and can get some great shows using a Roku stick and Netflix. The Roku stick carried a one-time price of about $40 (on sale) and Netflix is $8 or $16 per month, depending on which service you want.
My only caution to anyone thinking of buying this antenna is that they should think about their expectations before buying. Think about your favorite channels and what you might miss. The antenna is not a magic box that can do anything you want - after all, it is limited to what's in the air in your area - but for me it was definitely the right answer.
