- Reviewed in the United States on March 31, 2025Style: AX6600, Tri-Band GamingVerified PurchaseThis is a Killer Router. Unfortunately I did not use it due to the necessity of the ethernet ports. I ended up with the AX1100. I needed 2 other ports for a bridge and NAS.
So, essentially I purchased the wrong one and traded up.
NOTHING WRONG WITH THE FUNCTION OF THIS UNIT.
In fact, it put my previous router, on specs alone, in a grave. Looks great. Size is small enough multiple locations. Security suite offered in the interface (firmware) is not a bad addition.
Get your own modem. TP-Link will not disappoint.
Only drawbacks; the amount of ports, and antenna can not be repositioned.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 29, 2025Style: AX6600, Tri-Band GamingVerified PurchaseThe ease of use is great, works awesome for my work which I am a graphic designer. Perks are that I can name the devices on the app and maintain my kids internet without effecting mine! Works great for getting their chores done. I have it located in the basement and my office is upstairs so the range is great. It is compact in size so that makes it easy to tuck away. I joke and tell the kids to go reset the axolotl. If you work from home and need good bandwidth this works great. I think it is worth the value for what you get because it is kind of like your mattress, you use it everyday for everything from streaming to work so it better be good quality and last.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 13, 2022Style: AX6600, Tri-Band GamingVerified PurchaseI’ve spent the last few years buying routers in an attempt to just make everything *work* in our house. We have a big network; gigabit Internet access, multiple wired gigabit switches, multiple NAS devices, a few physical development servers, Plex Media Server. Additionally there are about a dozen game consoles split between wired and Wi-Fi, 3 big gaming desktops, 5 Wi-Fi connected laptops, 6 AirPrint-compatible printers of various make and model, around another dozen streaming devices (e.g. Roku, Roku TV, Amazon Fire Stick). Finally, there are also a bunch of other Wi-Fi devices, and many wireless IoT smart home devices (most of which require access to the 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network on the router). And of course there is an assortment of phones and tablets.
I’ve spent a few thousand dollars on routers, trying some of the highest end consumer routers available at each time. I went through multiple high-end Linksys units, a $400+ Netgear X10 Nighthawk that was supposed to solve all my problems, and most recently, a $400 Asus RT-AX89X that was also supposed to solve all of my problems.
Every single one had issues. Major issues. Issues like dropping wireless connections. Or AirPrint not working. At all. Or band steering failing to work correctly. Or Wi-Fi range issues. Or issues with UPnP allowing the game consoles to remap ports, or BT overrunning the port/memory management in the router’s OS.
The bottom line was - it didn’t seem to matter how much I spent - nothing would support our large home network.
Recently in desperation I decided to give this TP-Link router a try. I figured the worst case was what - it wouldn’t work? Then I’d just be back to where I was anyway. It wasn’t even a brand I would look at, but they were getting good reviews, so I gave it a shot.
And it solved EVERY SINGLE ISSUE.
Everything works now. I’ve yet to throw something at this thing on our crazy network that it didn’t seem to just handle effortlessly.
Now, it does have some stuff in it that I have off and won’t use because of the possibility of them slowing things down. And the Tether app requires a cloud account and doesn’t work locally, which is absolutely ridiculous. If I need to access my router through the app, there’s a decent change it’s due to Internet issues. Please fix this TP-Link - at least give us a “local login” option! Fortunately you can still do everything via the router’s web UI.
Anyway, as it stands right now, I have a stack of 12 routers that couldn’t do what this TP-Link is doing. No constant screwing with the router, no wireless extenders, no screwing with the AirPrint all the time to see why it isn’t working. For the first time in years, the network just “works”, which is all we really wanted in the first place.
And for the first time in years, the next time I need to buy any network hardware, I know what vendor I’m going to check out first.
Thank you, TP-Link!
- Reviewed in the United States on March 12, 2025Style: AX6600, Tri-Band GamingVerified PurchaseThe best we’ve had. I have not tried other types so I can’t compare. But very fast speed for my daughter’s wireless CyberPowerPC- GamerSupreme. She gets no lag with the WiFi coming from our living room to her room upstairs, in the back of the house. There are 5 gamers in the household and 3 are using the cable connection. This is the best we’ve had for multiple gamers. Highly recommend.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 15, 2022Style: AX6600, Tri-Band GamingVerified PurchaseThe setup is easy, step by step via an app you download on the phone. No issue connecting various devices, phones, tvs, router, firestick, gaming etc. The signal distance is about the same as my Netgear Nighthawk, above average but not broadcasting any further than the old router. It does provide a better picture quality and witeless gaming is absolutely flawless. It does cover a 2400 sq foot 2 story without issues, the farthest security cameras show a poor connection like they did with the nighthawk, but they are a solid 100 feet away through several walls outside. I will set up the old nighthawk as a repeater to cover any weak areas that are still there. I turned streaming on for every device, ran the gaming systems and did a heavy download on a PC, have 7 wireless cams and 3 motion sensor units, it never skipped a beat. My one star off is because the broadcast distance is good, but not great. I run a PS5 wireless 40 feet from the router several rooms away and it runs like when it was wired on the Nighthawk.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 24, 2025Style: AX6600, Tri-Band GamingVerified PurchaseWorks great. I now get signal through 2 cinder block walls! Maintains my signal when gaming
- Reviewed in the United States on October 10, 2024Style: AX6600, Tri-Band GamingVerified PurchaseBought to replace an ASUS mesh system that just couldn’t handle having a VPN running. This thing was set up in a few minutes (including the VPN) and ran at triple the speed. Coverage wise; it performed about as well as the 3 ASUS units did. I ended up installing a couple extenders just in case, linking them to this unit via the app was a piece of cake.
The only downside is that you have to manually enable the VPN for each device via the desktop portal. Kind of tedious but shouldn’t be too much of an issue after the initial storm.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a big boy and worth its weight.
Style: AX6600, Tri-Band GamingVerified PurchaseI've had my share of advanced routers and would normally just Flash then with ddwrt or tomatousb to get the configuration and performance I need. My new situation in this case was that I moved and for rid of my older Netgear r7000 and my ISP's router was "THE PITS." on my son's PS4 it took 4 hours to download 500 MBs on wifi which is so not good. Game pings were terrible and he was lagging so bad in Aex Legends he was falling out of the map. So I decided to pony up the cash for this and I can say the difference was night and day. (which I kind of expected) A 600 MB files now took a about 20-30 mins on wifi which still isn't the best but way better than what we were receiving. On top of all of that this also offers wifi 6 for our devices that supported it wifi was much more than I expected. I will be running ethernet to the PS4 eventually but for now by giving my son's PS4 his lagging is pretty much non existent and his ping has greatly increased. I have already recommended this Tony gaming buddies, but the true test will be when both my son and I are gaming simultaneous, so more to come in this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fast. Simple set up (or complex if you want it to be)
Style: AX6600, Tri-Band GamingVerified PurchaseHas excellent firewall features and functionality. I had around 50 rules I needed to set up, it was quick and painless to do so. The traffic shaping works really well too (what a bonus, I did not buy it for this feature)! The Wi-Fi range is decent (my old ASUS one it replaced was better though), and the throughput is excellent for a router in this price range.
TP-Link keeps making better and better products at great prices, hope they don't turn out to be yet another CCP spy company though!
