Customers say

Customers find the dehumidifier effective at maintaining humidity levels and appreciate its built-in pump feature and relatively quiet operation. The device is easy to set up and use, runs continuously for 4 days, and one customer notes it automatically empties into the laundry machine drain. However, the functionality receives mixed feedback, with some reporting it stops working after a month of use, and the quality is also mixed, with some praising its sturdy construction while others find it poorly made. The water retention feature receives criticism for stopping water collection.

Well, I'm giving them a good rating, but. I ordered it and they said it would be a couple weeks out ok cool, then 3 days later I got it. It came in a tore up box, but the unit was in new shape, ok. I tried it and it didn't work. so, to make a long story short the tank float was laying in the bottom of the tank. I had to figure out how to assemble it correctly. It works great and does pump water up, I drain it into the sewer pipe in my basement about 4 feet above, worry free maintenance.

After reading through tons of different dehumidifier reviews, we settled on this one and weren’t disappointed. The best feature is the auto pump that empties the water from the collection tank (which means we never have to remember to empty the tank again) Very easy to use. Auto readout tells you how humid your space is, and from there you can set the percentage of humidity you want in 5% increments. It does put out a decent amount of hot air during operation, so in the summer our normally cool basement was very warm. That is the only downside to this excellent humidifier.

This dehumidifier is quiet and performing well. I set it up in my basement in mid-may. It is now the middle of a very humid July and it has been quietly keeping my 840 square foot basement dry and comfortable. The automatic pump works well disposing of water into the home's drain pipe for the central air system that keeps the rest of the house dehumidified. Note, this unit accumulates the water in the tank until it fills up then pumps it out. The big issue will be how long this item lasts. My last two dehumidifiers failed after one summer use. This item is a GE warranty replacement for my last GE unit that worked well for most of summer of 2020 but failed after just four months use.

  • Reviewed in the United States on May 24, 2021
I live in North Texas and humidity can be a challenge especially since my dog has dust mite allergy and I had to lower humidity levels to help him. I purchased four units of this model in the last 9 months and two of them broke down 2-3 months ago so they lasted almost six months while they pretty much didn't run at all for almost 4 months from November to February. This should speak for the quality of this product.

Another note about this product: with no exception the units I received (the original four and the other two replacements that I'll explain below) all received in bad packaging and had damages on the plastic body.

Now what happened when I contacted GE for warranty? After multiple transfers, they told me that I have to get a Good Will certificate which is a terrible way to handle warranty for items at this price point when they're broken in less than a year, not one of them but two. So they asked me to wait for them to send me *paper printed* certificates and then order replacements online, and then send back the *paper printed* receipt along with the certificates so they issue me checks for refund of what I have purchased but all up to a certain price that is pre-set by them in their certificates (this unit lowered price so although I had paid more for original items, their refund would only cover the lower price I'm purchasing which is OK as long as they replace the same unit with an identical one). So this whole process took almost two weeks and of course I couldn't use my broken units until this archaic process completed. In 2021 they don't accept any electronic communication either.

So I received the certificates, immediately ordered two replacements from Amazon, and had to go to postal office and waste my time and money to send out the receipt and certificates. Almost 5 weeks later, I received two checks in my mailbox and boom, the refund is only for the price of the units and does not include the sales tax of almost 50 dollars on these two units. Am I supposed to pay the sales tax for broken units that they had sent me?

I had a lot of respect for GE because during years I've owned quite a few of their appliances (fridge, oven, microwave, dishwasher, cooktop, washer, and dryer) and they all have worked great so far, and I wanted to get a reliable unit for dehumidifier because I knew it will be running at my house for some good time in late spring and summer in Texas. What I received was pure junk and a waste of money while I could get much better quality products from competitors for a cheaper price.

Cherry on top, the cost of shipping of the certificate and receipt as well as the sales tax all fell on me so not only I paid a higher premium for low quality products last year before they lowered in price, but also I paid extra sales tax and shipping to receive warranty on these products. Now I don't even talk about all the hours of time I had to waste chasing this.

I have one simple advise for anyone considering this product: save yourself some money and trouble and please don't.

Don't expect to sit in a room with this. I cannot hear TV or comments by kids.

Hard to clean dust and goop out of water basin.

This does reduce humidity, I have done several on/off comparisons.

Lasted for 2 seasons so far.

Works very well. Ran a hose to sump pump for drainage, so it was set and forget. Very accurate humidity gauge.

Of note - the first unit I received had been banged around a lot in transit, as evidenced by packaging. The condensor unit ran extremely loud and I had to get a replacement. The new unit is nice and quiet - inaudible from upstairs. Even though I had requested "discreet packaging" in order to help protect the shipment, neither unit arrived as such.

Compared to two previous dehumidifiers (both name brands) this unit rocks. The settings are intuitive, the appearance (brown) is subdued, and professional. But best of all it works really well and has only a gentle blowing sound. The compressor goes on and off with hardly a sound. I bought the "old model" to save $60 and though it was not in the original box it was extremely well packed and looks great. Could not be more pleased.

This dehumidifier was easy to set up, pumped the collected water out just like it promised. However, don’t forget the instructions to clean it weekly. If you don’t, black mold and jelly-like substances will form in the bottom of the reservoir. Sometimes it’ll take more than swishing a little dishwashing soap and hot water in it to remove it, too. This isn’t a “set it and forget it”appliance. No dehumidifier is. But it does exactly what ur says.

Garbage product, works well but after 1 year it stopped working. Works for 5 minute then stops working. At that kind of premium pricing, you would expect quality. You won't get any here.
