- Reviewed in the United States on April 5, 2025Style: Roomba Combo i5Verified PurchaseThis I5 Roomba is great. The mapping feature cleans much better than the older models. Setting it up can be a little challenging, but not too bad. Part of the problem, is that I was setting it up with an existing account, with a second Roomba. When doing a mapping run, remove a small items from the floor. Remove chairs at your dinning room, dog bowls, small rugs and kid's toys. You don't have to remove all of these items, but I think it maps better. It takes two or three runs to get good mapping. You can do two mapping runs back to back. Once mapped you can name your different rooms. you can also put up the barriers on the map. You want to do the barriers so you can choose what room you want to clean. I only choose the room, when using the mopping feature. My family room has an area rug. I don't want it to mop in there. The mopping feature works ok. You fill it up with cleaning solution and it vacuums as it mops. You're not going to clean big stains, it just drags a micro fiber pad and slowly releases fluid. This clean very well on hard floors and carpet. When it gets stuck, it finds away to get out. Vacuums the perimeter first then goes in strait lines. We have a 7 year old 890. The battery is still good, but cleans in random patterns and only half the time makes it back to the base. The I5 finds it's base every time.
To recap: this is a nice Roomba. Much better than the old ones. For$200, what a deal.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 20, 2025Style: Roomba Combo i5Verified PurchaseMy previous Eufy stopped working (no it wasn’t the battery). Saw this product had good ratings on consumer reviews. It was a bit frustrating to get setup with the WiFi but after 4-5 tries, it finally picked it up. This doesn’t come with a remote so you have to use your phone to operate it or you can press the button on the unit to start it. First run maps your rooms then goes back to home to charge up. This vacuum is amazing! Much better than my Eufy. I haven’t used the mop. 5 stars so far.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 21, 2025Style: Roomba Combo i5Verified PurchaseI was fortunate enough to get 5G (so fast!) and all my smart devices connected to it – EXCEPT my older Roomba. I was thinking of getting a newer model anyway, so when I saw this one with a great price for a robot vacuum, I bought it. But it still does not connect to 5G, which is a big disappointment.
The other disappointment was the sparse/nonworking documentation. Here’s all 2 pages of little information. I scanned the QR code, but it didn’t work. So I went to YouTube for more help – but I shouldn’t need to do that.
On the positive side – I can use the Roomba without the app and don’t regret buying a new one – especially at this price. It’s more powerful than my old Roomba and vacuums a fluffy throw rug that the other one couldn’t. It also picks up more, especially gravel from shoes.
I haven’t used the mop feature yet because the non-working app and poor documentation frustrated me. But maybe one day….

- Reviewed in the United States on August 13, 2023Style: Roomba i3 OldVerified PurchaseI've had this vacuum for a little over a year and it's really just been an annoyance. My review is summarized below, but I would also suggest a quick Google/Bing/DuckDuckGo search with the terms "roomba terrible reddit". Confirmation bias is a thing, but so is astroturfing and premature reviewing, both of which are prevalent on this site.
Let me go ahead and get the one positive out of the way: The vacuum is pretty strong. It pulls more crud from between hardwood boards than my Dyson vacuum. Yay.
-----After owning an i3 since July 2022 here are my takeaways:-----
* Automation should make life easier and this fails so hard it's almost impressive. I spend less time manually vacuuming and maintaining my Dyson than I do futzing around with the Roomba unit and app. It does get stuck occasionally. I knew that going in, but all the hand-holding the unit requires really adds up.
* The Smart Map feature has yet to work for me and I've tried it several times. I think it was only recently added as a feature for the i3 when I purchased it, so I assume it's a feature that's been shoehorned in and that I should be grateful for their generosity. Basically, the unit will roam around the house not vacuuming. I will assume it's doing it's mapping thing, but it's not doing that either. By the time it's done not creating a map, there's not enough battery power left to really do any vacuuming. I mainly purchased this vacuum for the vacuuming feature so the Smart Map feature seems at odds with that.
* The unit gets so close to cleaning the corners of rooms. So close in fact, that it's easy to forget that the robot didn't clean the corners at all, ever. This one's not a secret, but what else can't this thing do! Keep reading to find out!
* The iRobot app says I have to replace the filters in 5 months. I've barely used this vacuum, and haven't had it running on a schedule in months. However, the app (as of today 8/13/23) suggests I spend $65 on new filters. It even sends me push notifications telling me that iRobot needs me to buy their filters asap. Why? Is it simply on a timer? I do have an option to "Reset" the "High Efficiency Filter" on the Product Health screen. Is that option there because it's unreliable? Is it being misdiagnosed by the app or faulty sensors within the unit? No way to know!
* The app is rough. I'm not sure why honestly. It's hard to describe because the issues are so sporadic and intermittent. Maybe it's because iRobot has to support dozens of different models with marginally different feature sets in a single app. I get secondhand embarrassment even opening the app and this is coming from a person who has used the HBO Go, HBO Now, and HBO Max apps. I'm curious if the makers of my cheap, automated catfood dispenser are also MIT roboticists and engineers, because that app has more features and has been completely hands-off since the 15 minutes I spent setting it up 3 months ago.
* The unit draws more power than it needs. I'm probably a stickler for this, but I'm surprised my cheap, Amazon-purchased cat toys don't draw nearly as much power continually once they're fully charged. I'd love to test it more and get some insight as to what's going on but then I wonder: to what end? So that I can get my terrible vacuum back up and running or something? Maybe it's because it's communicating to the cloud that new filters are desperately needed in 5 months!
-----A couple of side notes for anyone still reading this 🤷:-----
* I'm not surprised the Automatic Dirt Disposal unit is no longer for sale. I remember nearly purchasing it a year ago until I briefly skimmed all the negative review. Just now I checked the iRobot website and they indicate that there's an entirely different slew of issues there. Their business model with accessories seems to be: create the disease to sell snake oil.
* iRobot, the manufacturer, uses green for its primary brand color but the design is not environmentally conscious, in my opinion. Unless my unit is very specifically defective, I think this is misleading. But at least they can say the logo was colored green back in the 90s before green = environmentally conscious. I want to give them the benefit of the doubt and believe that they're just not good at branding or robots. Keep up the g̶o̶o̶d̶ work!
Lastly, iRobot support, please don't respond to this review. If you do respond, please acknowledge that you decided to ignore this part of the review.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love clean floors but I am a very lazy person. I'm happy now.
Style: Roomba i3 OldVerified PurchasePros:
- Cleans almost everywhere and moves in straight rows.
- Slows down before hitting a wall or obstacle, most of the times.
- Almost never get stuck. Doesn't need my intervention. Happened once since I've got it. (a month and a half)
- Works well with Google Assistant.
- Deep cleans carpets and rugs. *Perhaps too much.
- App is simple enough and works well for what I need (schedules).
- I'll be honest: I've owned the i3 for a month and a half now and I haven't used my "real" vacuum since. My floor are always clean now. I'm lazy and happy.
Cons:
- *Will be too rough on wool or other delicate fabric carpets/rugs
- Hair (long) rolls in around front wheel and rubber brushes bearings. I clean it every other day. (very easy to do)
- The Edge-Sweeping Brush with scatter some debris around since it's going very fast but chances are the i3 will pick them up after so it's not a big con.
Note:
-I suggest keeping a cluster-free floor as this thing will eat everything small enough in its way. It has very good suction! In my case, it ate a small cat toy, once. Just remove all small stuff from your floor and let the i3 do its thing. If that's too much work for you, go for the new Roomba J7.
-If you want to be able to clean specifics room and not your entire floor each time, go for the Roomba i7. EDIT: This is not true anymore as the i3 have the mapping feature now and can clean one room at the time if needed. Also, it is possible to create schedules using your rooms in the app.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great robot vaccum
Style: Roomba Combo i5Verified PurchaseThe robot vaccum itself is great! It connecta to you wifi and than you can control it at home or when you are out of the house. The mapping is great, it takes 2-3 days than the vaccum knows where to go. It is also very powerful. I had sone robot before but the suction was bad and the floor was still dirty after two hours of cleaning. The price is great! I purchased a used one and I think it was defective already because it worked for 2 weeks only and I had to return it but I am pretty sure the issue was with the unit I got and not the product itself. Looking to buy one again on black friday or bozing day but a new one this time!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Purchase
Style: Roomba i3 OldVerified PurchaseLittle noisy but major upgrade from our last pet series. The mapping feature works flawlessly and with the new app support this device is perfect for a house.

4.0 out of 5 stars The iRobot Roomba i3 (3150) is ok but the app is limited! And for the delivery, it was fine!
Style: Roomba i3 OldVerified PurchaseThe robot works well but it's a little noizy. It needs to run more often to be able to recognize all the rooms perfectly.
Exemple: After the first run for making the map of all the rooms, you ask the robot to go to a specific room (mention on the map) it can't find it. It stay near the entrance of the room where it's supposed to start sweeping but it doesn't no where to go. It was ok for all the other rooms except one particular room. So, it has to do multiple run to learn the map entirely, or start all over again to create a new map. Also this robot is not able to move forward when there is a small threshold. But I think it's not that bad for this robot at a reasonable price around $350. to $400.
Overall the robot is fine, the app is restricted with some degree of imperfection, also the Roomba needs more sensors. But it's ok for the price it's worth.
NOTE: I cannot say more about this product because i've only have this device for about 6 to 7 weeks.
