- Reviewed in the United States on March 25, 2024Easy to set up. So far I’m using it in receiver mode inputting to a high end receiver. The sound is very good but not high end. It’s an excellent product for the price.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 28, 2024PRO: The price is TINY. Only $40 for this gadget vs $150+ for the Audioengine B1 or the Auris BluMe. I use a cheap Android phone as a receiver for internet radio and streaming services, and it works perfectly with the Monoprice receiver. (I haven't used it in transmit mode yet.) Bluetooth range is at least 40 feet, and that's going through a couple of walls. Sound quality is very good.
CON: The gadget is TINY. The buttons are TINY. The cords to connect and power the gadget are infuriatingly TINY. Seriously, the short cords made the initial setup unnecessarily annoying.
However, once I got it set up properly it has performed perfectly. If you need to add Bluetooth to your existing music system and appreciate a bargain, this is the way to go.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 6, 2023I thought and assumed they all sound the same, but not so. I've bought a cheap BT receiver not knowing this. Did a little listening and read up some info. Finnally, it's about the supported format for high quality sound. The cheap one is good for talking on my phone and such, but it probably lacked the many codes and/or codec for music. This area can be complicated, but they should have a list of supported formats, not only for MP3, which is not in the rank, Hi-Fi, high definition sound. But the list goes on to suggest the better.
This tranceiver I ordered from Amazon got exactly as it described, the above list of code/codec (code and decode)
If you are gonna hook up a bunch of portable speakers like I do for three of them, then you'd purchase this BT tranceiver and you'll need a universal 1/8 or 3.5mm spliter. Some name like U-Spliter on Amazon. It comes with about 5 additional output and an extra 1/8 pigtail to plug it in to your source. There's plenty to connection after that. It's universal, you can do this eighter way, it will work.
If you'll used speakers this way, my first advice is to manually turn down each speaker, next to nothing. Why? You may get blown away, surprisingly, when connected. Thank me for this one.
Now that you got it all way down low, you'll want to turn your phone all the way up and max it out. This way you'll get the most from your phone, as far as BT is concerned.
The rest is manual, controlling the volume of each speaker to your likeness. There's my experience with them, and this way there's no confusion of music delay cause they're all on the same page. Good for the party.
I've had a couple of small portables I didn't wanted to put them away when I bought a gigantic W King T11. My two Med onn. rugged from Walmart still stand (5yrs). They sounded awesomely great none other can match. I've bought and returned a larger onn. from Walmart it's nothing to compare with the old one. But so the new W King arived, it's a closest and coolest match to that great sound, only 100W louder, not as the two small for about 10W each. Took me 6mos trying to get the best sound for the money. Have you got an ear full yet. Thank you.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 7, 2020Does not work with Sony WH-1000XM3 headphones. It works with all my cheaper bluetooth headsets. It will work with WH-1000XM3s the first time you pair them. But then every subsequent time after the first pairing when you reconnect the devices you get audio loaded with distortion. Not sure if it's a Sony problem or a Monoprice problem. My Sony headphones work fine with every other device I've used them with. This transmitter worked fine with every other pair of bluetooth headphones I connected it to.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 8, 2025Works in AptX adaptive codec mode with B&W Zeppelin Pro! There is a latency in the above approx. hundred milliseconds as expected, but for my application, I adjust my wired speaker output with a delay to synchronize the channels. This delay synchronization adjustment is really needed anyway because even 10ms is apparent for high pitched fast instrument sounds and even lowest possible latency LL Aptx is minimum 40ms which is already audible desynchronization...
I tried many different AptX adapters, and this was the only one that worked with the Zeppelin.
The sound quality of the analog sampling on the input is accurate and relatively low noise.
Fortunately the sleep mode does not kick if the device is plugged into USB power and remains connected to the Bluetooth speaker.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 13, 2021This bluetooth receiver is claimed to have aptX-HD but after an hour between online chatting with Monoprice and my efforts the device failed to provide aptX-HD.
I put my phone with Android 10 into developer mode, went to system, then advanced, then selected developer options to make the necessary adjustments. I changed the Codec to aptX-HD, sample rate was already 44.1 and changed bits per sample to 24 and always the phone reverted back to aptX with 16 bits per sample without the aptX-HD. Tried aptX-HD with 44.1 and bits per sample at 16 and the phone reverted back to aptX.
The Monoprice rep confirmed what I did should have worked, however it didn't.
If you merely paired your phone to Monoprice's bluetooth device thinking you had aptX-HD, think again.
If you really don't care about the HD, then this device paried easily and worked as a receiver. I did not try any other features. Sound quality was good.
There was no manual in the box so be prepared to get it online as you will need it.
