I purchased this charging brick from Amazon on 11/23/21 to charge my phone and laptop. The goal I had was to find something that could fit in the side pocket of my laptop sleeve that I bring with me to meetings. My standard chargers are too big for this and usually get left in my larger attache case. Size was the main constraint for me but I was also concerned that a charger small enough to be convenient wouldn't provide enough power for my applications. This charger has exceeded all of my expectations.
It is difficult to describe how small this charger is. Although it looked small in the Amazon listing pictures, it is really tiny when seen in person. It is even smaller than the little 2 Watt charging bricks that come free with most cheap USB powered devices. The Gallium Nitride "GaN" technology is something I hadn't heard of before, but if it allows for this kind of miniaturization of chargers, I think we will all be familiar with it very soon. The fact that at $20 it was no more expensive than other larger chargers is a real bonus.
The charger itself performs as advertised. All of my USB-C cables worked great with this and I had no trouble with compatibility. In addition to my Lenovo Yoga laptop, the charger also charged my iPad Pro (2020), S8, S8+, S10+, and Oculus Quest 2 without any difficulty. I was concerned it would overheat like my devices' stock charging bricks but found that this charger runs significantly cooler than I expected. Even when putting out more than 30W the charger never got very warm. I had read several reviews before purchasing this charger about how some other chargers get dangerously hot. Even my official Samsung charger gets too warm to touch when charging my fully discharged Samsung Galaxy 10+ phone. I was never able to get this ZMI brick too warm to handle. This is important to me since I have young children and pets that I don't want to get burned.
Overall, this is a great charger for the money and perfect for my application.
