Q: My hearing loss is moderate to average, will these Sony aids be effective for me?
A: I have moderate to severe high frequency hearing loss and they're sufficiently capable. Invisible hearing aids will always struggle when compared to BTE or RIC models, mostly due to invisible CIC models only having room for one microphone. Whereas the larger "traditional" BTE/RIC models typically have 2 microphones per hearing aid. However manufacturers are starting to close the gap between invisible and the larger external styles, as Sony is proving with the CRE-C10 OTC hearing aids now. I've included screenshot of the user manual which says the CRE-C10s are intended for mild to moderate hearing loss. I think this mild to moderate rating is the only way the FDA will approve hearing aids in the OTC category. Again I have moderate to severe loss and these Sony's have no issues keeping up.
A: Hi Brazilian, great question. Neither of the Sony over-the-counter hearing aids stream calls or media (such as GPS) to android. There are 2 models, the CRE-C10 and the CRE-E10. The CRE-C10 does not support streaming, but the CRE-E10 will support both call & media streaming for devices running iOS 13 and above. Regards, Erin
Q: What do the words "self fitting" mean in the description of this product
A: Hi there, Self-fitting means that the user can fit the Sony OTC hearing aids themselves guided by the Sony Hearing Control app. The self-fitting process includes a hearing profile check to determine if the customer’s hearing profile is compatible with the devices, and if so, configures the appropriate settings tailored to the customer’s hearing profile. Once a hearing profile check has been performed, it can be repeated periodically. Also, after the hearing profile check, the user can further customize the volume and sound quality within the app, based on their listening preferences. Regards, Erin
Q: Do these support transpositioning for high frequency hearing loss?
A: I think so … I now hear birds chirping and the turn signal in my car. The apps has a tone control where you can boost highs and lows.
Q: BATTERY INCLUDED IN HEARING AID?
A: Yes you get a starter pack of batteries. Batteries last about 3 days continuous use or 6 days if you disconnect every night. Batteries cost about 25 cent each
Q: Will sony be fixing the issue android users are having? They are unable to pair the hearing aids
A: Apple as well having issue. Like sone video game manufacturers product was rushed to meet Oct 18 OTC law. In time I imagine will be fixed. It was irritating for me as I helped my mother TRY to set them up.
Q: How many batteries does the device hold
A: One battery per heraing aid
Q: Are these FDA-certified as hearing aids?
A: These are not FSA approved hearing aids but are FDA certified as OTC hearing devices. Some of the previous answers I believe have been misleading
