A: The 20 TB is 20 trillion bytes. Historically, memory size was generally some power of 2 because of the addressing scheme. When we got to 1024 bytes (2^10) that was called 1 KB. The metric prefix "kilo" means 1000, so we have this disparity of 1024 vs. 1000. You knew which was meant by the context: if it was memory size, then it was 1024. As we increase to MB, GB, TB and upward, each step up is a factor of 1024 rather than 1000. So 1 TB memory would be (1024^4) bytes. The other piece of information to know is with hard drives, your operating system reports the capacity in terms of memory size (i.e. factors of 1024, not 1000), but marketing departments sell their harddrives with sizes using the definitions based on factors of 1000. Therefore a 20 trillion bytes drive will have its capacity reported by your operating system as 20E12 / (1024^4) = about 18.2 TB.
Q: What style power adapter (i.e. straight vs. angled-plug) is included?
A: It is at a 90 % angle from the power unit. Please see attached pictures.

I do regular image backups of my workstation, that has four NVMe m.2 drives . For this I need large capacity, external, hard drives. This 20TB drive is well suited for the task. Its only shortcoming is that it heats up to more than 50deg C during the long backup time, if left to its own devices. I have fixed this issue by positioning a pair of 80mm fans beneath it, to force cool air into its housing (see photo). The drive also performs well for a hard drive, as can be seen in the results of a Crystal Disk Mark speed test. The temperature at the start of the test was 24 deg C. At the end of the test it was 33 deg C, and dropped to 25 deg C just 3 minutes after the end of the test. The fans are very effective. I use two separate external hard drives for my backups, alternating between each one. This is good enough for my needs. I recommend this drive to anyone needing a simple, cost effective way to do large backups.

Excellent drive, moderate heat, Optimal transfer rates for the first 40% of the drive, but does dive to 140 MB/s at the end of the 20TB platter. It's a bit noisy compared to Seagate and Western Digital drives but overall the price is excellent. Overall still an great purchase especially when closer to $300. I highly recommend this as a stand alone vault but keep in mind 20TB is quite a bit of data and buying one and backing it up to another is peace of mind unless you plan to use hardware or software raid to guarantee it.

I've used dozens of WD external hard drives over the years. This is the 2nd 20TB HD I picked up for backup redundancy. I've never had any fail on me.
